Igniting creativity for young scientists

The Brain Colouring Book is a project spearheaded by two McGill University neuroscience researchers who wanted to engage children and adults in learning about their brains in a unique way. The book's illustrations and informative content are skillfully intertwined, allowing readers to explore different regions of the brain and understand up-to-date information based on extensive research. The website served as a public launch and ordering page, and helped the colouring book achieve hundreds of international sales.

DEFINING THE
UX ROADMAP FOR THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY

Volkswagen, as the largest car company in the world, has the unique opportunity to position itself as a market leader in the mobility industry and shape the world we live in. They want to create a unified platform across their twelve brands that goes beyond just the car, but a top-level service that connects touchpoints in all vehicles.

To do this, they enlisted Edenspiekermann’s help in creating a UX roadmap that would define the way their designers approach this project in the next 10-30 years. Ultimately, the vision was to build one user-centered digital platform for all mobility products. We defined a roadmap that would align Volkswagen and its different brands towards this goal and into the future.
Due to the confidential nature of this project, I am unable to share details publicly. However, the future UI prototypes and concept developed from the UX roadmap are planned to be showcased at CES 2023.

A LITTLE ABOUT

ME

I’m Carrie, a recently graduated product designer from Canada.

I studied physiology and neuroscience at McGill University. In the past, I have designed products and visual identities for healthcare organizations, tech startups, and design agencies around Canada and Europe.

I'm drawn towards ways to meaningfully experience and impact the world — and for me, design is a major one.
DESIGN is A WAY FOR ME TO
Lead a community called Design Collective, empowering a campus of 40000 students to start their first graphic or UX design project. At McGill, a school without a designated design major, I started this organization to make design education accessible to any beginner or aspiring creator through workshops, industry talks, design sprints, and more.
Apply my background in human neuroscience and psychology to understand human behavior and build products with intention. How do our brains learn what stimuli are important? What are the molecular mechanisms of happiness or motivation? My background gives me unique opportunities to study the answers to these questions and more, which are hugely relevant to human-centered design.
Be perpetually critical of cultural, ethical, and complex perspectives, and collaborate with all sorts of cool people to create products that will improve society. Design has also given me an excuse to never stop self-learning, whether it be 3D modelling, animation, multi-modal user interfaces, or VR/AR/MR.
